Adjunct Professor
Dr. Bob Currie is an experienced leader and manager of research and development, software development and technology strategy. He has expertise in distributed energy resource (DER) management systems, power grid modernization, distributed energy resource hosting capacity, power system planning and utility operational technologies and architectures. Dr Currie is currently the VP Product and Strategy for Kevala Analytics and was previously the Co-Founder and CTO of Smarter Grid Solutions, which was established in 2008 to commercialise his PhD research. Dr. Currie is a co-inventor of Active Network Management (ANM), a key technical capability required to enable higher penetrations of renewable and distributed energy resources to connect to the existing grid. He has participated in industry, regulator and standards working groups related to renewable and distributed energy integration with the power grid in the UK and USA. He is a regular speaker at events and conferences, including as an invited speaker at the UN Climate Action Stakeholder Consultation on the Paris Agreement, addressing the Deputy Secretary General of the General Assembly and the President of the General Assembly. Dr. Currie holds a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, is a reviewer for IEEE and IET Journals and has published several journal papers, white papers, articles and patents.
