Shadi Kalash has over thirteen years of experience in the industry and academia. He joined the UCD Energy Institute as a Senior Energy Policy Researcher in 2020 to work on the development of the offshore wind energy sector in Ireland. In collaboration with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), his main objective is to participate in achieving the ambitious target of 70% renewable electricity by 2030. Prior to that, Shadi was an assistant lecturer in the Department of Mechanical, Polymer and Design in Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT). He also has a wide experience in the industry having worked at Petrofac Int. Ltd. (an international energy service provider based in UK). Throughout the past 11 years at Petrofac, Shadi managed several projects from offshore wind farms, to the oil and gas industry where he was responsible for project management and technology evaluation/selection. Shadi graduated as a mechanical engineer with honours from Damascus University (Syria), where he completed his PhD in renewable energy as well.
