Shane Colclough Is a Chartered Engineer and is Research Fellow at the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy in UCD. He has led research into low-energy dwellings for the past 10 years in addition to being principal at the consultancy firm Energy Expertise Ltd. He completed Masters in Engineering and Business Administration in UCD and his PhD in Energy Storage and low-energy buildings in Ulster University.
He believes passionately in the potential afforded by low-energy building standards in providing a better standard of housing for our citizens, simultaneously reducing Ireland’s dependence on fossil fuels and eliminating fuel poverty. He is vice-Chairman of the Passive House Association of Ireland and founding co-Chairman of nZEBIreland. His research interests focus on the technical, economic, behavioural and health aspects of low-energy buildings, and he is Co-Principal Investigator on the SEAI funded nZEB101 project.
