Research Policy Expert
Joe Wheatley joined the Energy Institute in 2019 to work on climate policy and project coordination for the EMPowER model. Joe’s background is in statistical physics and finance. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, he completed his PhD at Princeton University in 1988 on high-temperature superconductivity. He continued in basic research at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge before joining Goldman Sachs, London in 1996 as an interest rate derivatives dealer. His post-finance career has been in data science, with projects for private clients in domains such as agriculture, weather and energy.
